Why gear will appear pitting？

In the process of gear engagement, under the action of the cyclic stress, the relative weakness of the structure of the nebula's materials will be the first fatigue (if the lubrication is not good, particularly serious). When the shear stress exceeds the shear fatigue limit of the gear material, the surface will produce fatigue crack. Crack growth will eventually make the tooth surface metal piece of scrap and form a small hole in the tooth surface, known as corrosive pitting.
